Letters Home

Letters Home grew from the desire to bring comfort to those American families who lost their bravest members by sharing the words our soldiers, sailors and Marines have written home from Iraq, Afghanistan or Guantanamo.

These men and women alone answered our country’s call and in doing so faced great fear, loneliness and sorrow while putting their own lives on hold. America should hear their words. Not the words of war and not the words of a correspondent or a politician but their words of love of family and country – words that express their hopes and dreams for the world that awaits them when they return home.

We will get to know them through their words. In getting to know them we will understand the price paid by all. We want them to be heard. We want you to be known as if they were your neighbor, your friend, your son, your daughter. We don’t want them to be forgotten.

We want their families to know we will never forget.

The first book in the Letters Home series titled Letters Home: Texas Edition is slated for publication July 4, 2008. Submissions of letters and emails are still being accepted for the series. We welcome all submissions. Please see our submissions page for additional information.

A percentage of all proceeds from the Letters Home series will be donated to The Fisher House Program.

The Fisher House TM program is private-public partnership that supports our military in their time of need. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, the Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes” build on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to their loved one at the most stressful of times.
